A (Pretty) Four Letter Word

Here are my obligatory snow photos. Our power has been fluctuating last night and today, but hopefully I can get this posted...I wouldn't want y'all to miss seeing one more snow snapshot!

Here in Texas (especially North and East) we are going to be like old veterans of some far off war, swapping stories of how we survived the blizzard of nought ten!
"The woods are lovely, dark and deep.

But I have promised one day to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep.

and miles to go before I sleep."~Robert Frost
"Snow, I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow."~Irving Berlin Reckon I could use those bed rails for skis? "Snow, oh to see a great, big man entirely made of snow."~Irving Berlin
"Snow, those glistening houses that seem to be built with snow."~Irving Berlin
I was born and raised in North Texas, McKinney as a matter of fact and the closest thing I've ever seen to this was the ice storm of '78. We went to bed New Year's eve and woke to everything covered in ice....with no power for a week!

This was amazing to see. There was no wind, not even a breeze and it came straight down in these lovely, huge, fluffy flakes! I tried to take a photo of the back yard last night...everything was pink...but it didn't show the color. You'll just have to trust me...it was the most beautiful rosy pink...sky to ground!

"A year of snow, a year of plenty."~French Proverb
"Snow, I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow."~Irving Berlin
"I'll soon be there with snow.

I'll wash my hair with snow and with a spade of snow

I'll build a man that's made of snow."~Irving Berlin
Trust me, there's an Exploder under all that white!
"Unpredictable, irresponsible,

unbelievable, unreliable.

Ever since the world began

are Cupid and the Weather Man.~Irving Berlin
"I'd love to stay up with you, but I recommend a little shuteye."~Irving Berlin
"Go to sleep

and dream

of snow, snow, snow, snow."~Irving Berlin

Well, we here in Syracuse NY took a vote a couple of weeks ago and decided that all of you should get the snow this year. Do you like our gift? So far it's working out great for us...not much but a sputter here and there for us...and...I dare say...you have more than we do right now. We're ok with it, I mean...we get to do this all the time and our normal average is about 116.9" (so far we have about 74"). So Deb...I just wanted to make sure you were enjoying our gift...the gift of snow (we're really ok with it if you want to keep it there. ) ENJOY! Tami

You know, I have to say all the pictures of the snow are just beautiful. I love to "look" at pictures of snow. I'm a wuss when it comes to cold weather and I don't understand a lot of things about snow. We get a bit of rain here and its like the biggest storm to ever hit the earth! Thanks for posting the pictures, they really are beautiful. Our week-end forecast here is sunny, upper 70's!
Take care, Sue

What beautiful phots, Deb. I hope you are enjoying your "white" surprise. It's always funner when you can sit inside and look at it out the window. We usually always get snow since we live at a higher elevation, but not this year. It's been very mild and warm weather. That's okay with me since I really don't like having to worry about getting my kids to school and driving in it.

Enjoy your weekend and hope you get some Valentine's hugs & kisses from Cat Daddy.

I have to tell you...it's gorgeous Deb...simply gorgeous!
Stay warm and don't be doing nothin' that I wouldn't be doin'. This kind of weather causes a little baby boom...behave!

Can you believe this snow?? We are so not used to this much in Texas, huh? My hubbie and I were just talking about the snow in '78 when we were kids...isn't it funny how we remember those things? LOVE your quotes along with the photos!!

Now that's what I call snow. Love the picture of the old trailer, it would make a neat playhouse.

It also snowed here in the coastal south! I think we can forget about our palm trees.

BEAUTIFUL!!! My mom called me on Thursday telling me that she was getting a “Snow Day” from work.
I Am SO JELOUS!!! The only thing that we have had here in San Antonio is rain :(

It is beautiful! The last time I remember a snow of any real consequence in north Texas, I was about 12 years old. I don't know how many inches it was, but more than 3 or 4 and well less than this one. I read there was one almost this big in 1964, but I was too young to remember it. So this is truly the "snow of a lifetime" for me. I'm enjoying it!

Don't you just love all that snow?? I love all your photos of the snow, especially the trailer....I think you got more than we did. It looks pretty deep at your house.
I think we got around five inches.
Stay warm!!!
