Once, Twice, Three Times A Winner

Frippery, Primitives'nPoetry and Whisperwood Cottage all nominated me for a Kreative Blogger award.

What a great surprise to me as I sometimes wonder if people get me. I love to look at all the pretty blogs and photos out there, but when I try to emulate that look, it ends up looking fake and not sounding like me. In the words of Popeye, "I yam what I yam". Thank you guys so much.

Now the rules are I'm supposed to nominate 6 more blogs and then list 6 things about myself. Well, I must warn you that there is nothing I would rather talk about than me. So you may get more than just 6 things. In fact, I think it was supposed to be 6 things that make me happy, but Pam wanted 6 things about me, so guess what? That's 12. Get ready y'all. You may be hollering TMI!

First the 6 things that make me happy:

  1. A really good cup of coffee in a really good coffee cup. You know the kind of coffee that tastes like it smells in a cup that fits your hand and your mouth perfectly. MMM!
  2. Seeing Cat Daddy laugh out loud. I can barely get him to smile, but when he gets tickled and lets go with a yuk yuk, it cracks me up.
  3. Oh the beauty of a good pen. One that sits in your hand and feels so good and when you write, the ink just flows out boldly. I have been known to steal pens like this from friends. They are just the best and make my heart sing.
  4. When my Graycie says my name, it makes me want to cry. I could wax poetic about her all day and how happy she makes me, but I won't do that to y'all. Her and Brandon are the light of my life.
  5. When a newborn baby smiles tickles me beyond belief. You know that little corner smile they do that the nurses call gas. I call it the angels whispering to them. That makes me happy.
  6. And finally, when God whispers to me. Sometimes when I'm not feeling in the best of moods or things are going rough, something will happen, maybe a phone call or a card in the mail or an unexpected check and I know He's whispering to me telling me He's always there. That is my unequaled joy to know that He loves me and will always love me.

Now just when you thought it was OK to go back into the water comes the 6 things you may or may not know about me.

  1. I am talkaholic. I just don't know when to shut up. I love the sound of my own voice. When you're with me, just butt in because otherwise you won't get a word in edgewise.
  2. I am a procrastinator and unbelievably lazy. I put things off until maybe a day or two before I need something done and then rush around like a mad woman getting it done. It always gets done, but I'm in a killing mood until it does.
  3. I fret over details. You wouldn't believe how many spell checks and rereads I do on a post before I post it. Then I go back and edit it a gazillion times. Drives me crazy, but I can't stop.
  4. I love blogging. Since starting this, I have been as happy as a pig in sunshine. It reminds me so much of pen pals in the 1960's. I loved writing letters and making friends I would probably never see, but good friends in spite of that. This is like a journal, diary and pen pals all rolled into one. Making friends that no, I'll probably never meet in person, but friends just the same. Sharing ideas, thoughts, happy times, sad times. I love it.
  5. I am also a self-confessed shoeaholic. Some girls want chocolate. Not me! My fix is finding that pair that will go with nothing but look so good on my feet. It's the one thing Cat Daddy just doesn't understand about me. One pair of feet-one pair of shoes. Not me honey. I want 'em lined up on the closet shelf in clear containers so I can go in there and bask in their glory.
  6. I am afraid of escalators. I can go up just fine, but I break into a cold sweat when I think about going down. I just won't. I start looking for the nearest elevator when I arrive somewhere new and I map out my shopping at the mall based on the locations of the elevators. I know it's silly, but hey, so am I.

Now I'm supposed to pass this award onto 6 others. This will not be an easy task because I love reading so many out there. I love the ones with children like Vintage Sue's because they're cute, I love the ones with home displays like Bella Shabby's because they're pretty, I love the ones with photographs like Sweet Repose, I just love them all. I especially love the ones that make me giggle like Laurie and LuLu of the 2 Chippys and the ones with beautifully written text like Pam's of Frippery. So if you get a chance, check them out for a really good read.

Weekend Warriors

Cat Daddy and I hit the road early Saturday morning heading to the Hill Country and a whole lot of fun. I cannot believe I got in the poodle seat by a man who looks like he's still asleep. But what the heck, at least I didn't have to drive. Our first stop was going to the Junk Gypsys Warehouse sale. Between Mapquest directions and Graycie, our GPS, we still managed to get lost in College Station. But one quick phone call to Jolie and we were soon turning by Large Marge into a sea of cars. Lucky for us, we were VIP's so we got to park close.(Just kidding, just happened onto a spot close to the tent)
This was the first thing my wondering eyes saw. Oh my gosh-junk heaven! It was everywhere as were shoppers.
There was such a crowd it was tough navigating, but we managed with hardly a scrape, bump or bruise.
The pink literally pulls you in. I don't buy pink all the time but I have to admit I'm a closet pink nut. There is just something so girly about it. It just makes you feel pretty.
The Rebal Sistas were so busy, I think we were there for 20 minutes before they knew it. I don't know if Janie ever really got to look up. You talk about girls gone wild! Show us your bling!
I have heard about the big bridal gown sales and how wild they can get. Well, I won't say the buyers were that bad, but it was pretty tight trying to maneuver inside the big tent.
And yes, I know I posted this photo twice, but I'm too tired to go back and try to edit it out. Just chuckle among yourselves at my ineptitude.
I told the girls I didn't know why they worry about shopping for merchandise with this kind of stockpile, but you forget what you have when it's in a warehouse. Wowee Ayy!
This is totally irrelevant, but I never saw so many cute shoppers in one place at one time like this.
Man, I just have to say, I have firewood in my barns compared to this stuff.
I slipped off for a little while to see the latest Baby Gypzette. What a cutie pie, just like her mother. You know, that teeny tiny face and nose. Too, too cute. Is there any perfume that smells sweeter than that of new baby on your skin?
Here's Jolie with friends and extreme helpmates on one of the most beautiful days a junker could ask for.
Take a gander at Thelma and Louise, I mean Amie. Thelma went to college with the girls and they've all been friends a long time. She and her husband are getting ready to relocate up my way. Come on Thelma, I'll leave the front porch light on for you.
OK girls, hold your horses. That's my Cat Daddy bringing sexy back. Eat your hearts out. Gives a whole new meaning to pretty in pink, right?
Even Daddio Phillip was working the crowd and schmoozing with the best of 'em.
Once upon a time, there were 3 little girls who went off to police academy. Whoops, wrong 3 little girls. My three little girls didn't have to leave Texas to make for an unbelievable success story. I don't think there are 3 harder working women in our business and they do it with a smile and class. They're clever, ingenious, fun loving, pretty and I'm lucky to know them. No one is more deserving of success than these 3. They didn't wait for it to find them, they went out and grabbed it with both hands. Let's hear it for the girls!

The Last Halloween Post(I Promise)

This darling little cat is the reason I didn't go junking this weekend. That's my Graycie with her friend Charity.
Cat Daddy and I drove over to Rockwall to the Harbor for some Halloween fun with my son, dil & Grayzilla Friday night. You won't see photos of me very often, so memorize 'em. You'd think I have cooties or something the way C.D. looks. Do I offend?
Here she is in her Halloween finery. She's a little camera shy as you can tell. Graycie's 6 going on 16. Her daddy is really paying for his raising with this one. Neither one ever meets a stranger. While we were there I think they both ran into a half dozen people they knew. I swear, she's one of the top ten reasons I get up in the morning and why I don't cut my hair off. She won't let me.
The next two photos are just cute. No one I know, but I just love to see Halloween going to the dogs.
Like I said, no one I know. There were more dogs out there than kids I think, but they were all a hoot!
Look at that face! Her daddy thought she looked a little too grown up and I won't tell you what he called her costume, but I thought she looked purr-fect. She's my little mini-me for now. Her mom and dad are very tall, so if giraffes have baby giraffes, chances are she's going to be a giraffe.
Again, take a good look at Nana, double chins and all. It won't happen again in the near future-at least not recent ones. I've got some vintage ones coming up soon of my family. But those don't count. Believe it or not, you'll get to see me with red hair. That's right! Before time started adding white and grey, this hair was Howdy Doody RED!
Graycie with her Pop. He tries to be all big and bad with her, but she's got him so wrapped, it's not even funny. Pop was one of the first words she learned to spell.
OK, I know I am not a photographer. There was this great sailboat with lights on the mast and I was trying to get a picture of it and the girls. Kind of lame, right?
Again, my Grayzilla with her mom and dad. Sorry guys. I didn't mean to cut you out of the picture. Focus, focus.
That's my big ol' Cat Daddy with our son Joey. No, they're not drunk, just a tipsy photographer. Actually, I had a hard time getting them to be still so I just pointed and clicked. Isn't my son just about the best looking thing you've seen today? Actually, I think my whole family is beautiful.
No relation here either. I just thought these two were the cutest couple. After talking to them, I still think they are. Just proves Halloween isn't just for the young, but for the young at heart as well.
I'll finish where we finished-at the restaurant. What could be a better ending to a great night than shrimp, Sarah Palin as a waitress and Nascar on the overhead television.

Talking Heads Or On A Clear Day You Can See Forever

There is nothing wrong with your monitor. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission.
We can roll the image or make it flat.
We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. For the next however long it takes you to read this post, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat, there is nothing wrong with your computer.
You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to the stretched to the limit.
Welcome to Madame C'allnoall's. Step in and see what the future holds for you. Do not be afraid-no harm will come to you.
Madame C'allnoall asks that you take a seat and be very quiet as she looks ahead at what is to come.
Using all the latest technology available today she will, with the aid of her less than able-bodied assistant, peer into her crystal ball.
She feels as if it's working already. So much is coming through, she scarcely knows where to begin.
To be double sure of what she is about to impart to you, she must do further research using the tea leaves. Will that be one lump or two?
Sometimes one just loses one's head when looking ahead. But her hands are tied. She can't stop now. Not when the truth is so close.
Yes, she sees it all clearly now. You will have many unexpected, strangely garbed visitors tonight. Be ready! She sees something sweet in the future for you as well. What? A tall, dark, handsome stranger will darken your doorstep as well. Oh no, that one's for me-sorry! Expect to hear the ringing of bells tonight as well. Perhaps a shopping trip for she sees bags and sacks galore. And then, it's over.
Madame is very tired now. She will be retiring to her boudoir to rest. She hopes you give her reading a thumbs up and please feel free to leave a little something in appreciation.
We now restore you to your regular program and say "HAPPY HALLOWEEN!"
