Postcards From The Ledge

While trying to decide what to do as a post for Debra's Vintage Friday Inspiration, it hit me what gets my motor running...Y'ALL! So many of my "real" friends don't understand why I blog. To say they don't get it is an understatement! They wonder how I can relate to cyber-friends...'cause after all...to their way of thinking...y'all exist only on a screen.

How do I explain to them that so many of y'all share a cup of coffee with me each morning or stay up late with me at night?

You're risk takers, stepping out of the boat and following your hearts which in turn, inspires me to move out of my comfort zone and try new things.

(All photos are from SweetT's blog party.)
How do I make them understand how clever, smart, talented and wonderful y'all are...tell me that? How about how y'all have stood by me through thick and thin...or listened to me ramble on and on about nothing...or put up with my Squirrel moments? How you inspire me with your creativity, make me laugh with your silliness and challenge me to reach for the stars. Tell me...how do I explain to them the prayers, laughter and tears we've shared?

Have I actually met some of you...proving you do exist and not just in my imagination? A big ol' yeah buddy would be my answer. Will I get to meet every last one of you...if I'm blessed...YES...but if not...you still hold a special place in my heart! You've reached out to this chubby, Texas lady and given me the gift of your friendship expecting nothing in return but a visit from me in my gimmee tee and sweats.
Through y'all I get to experience life in a whole new dimension...see things I will never get to see...visit places I can only dream of...taste exotic foods...and be young again.

Your words and photos inspire me to reach for the unreachable. Your art inspires me to look at the possibilities surrounding me. Your hearts inspire me to love unashamedly and to look for the beauty that lies beneath. Simply put...by each of you being special and unique, I become special and unique in your presence.
To be inspiring, one has to look for inspiration. I need look no further than my monitor and I can soar!

SQUIRREL ALERT!!!

A huge, big, special Happy Birthday to my Crazy Cajun who I cannot spend enough time with! Jodie is the perfect example of what can happen when the dream meets the reality. She is the epitome of everything I want to be when I grow up! How on earth would I have ever been so fortunate to have her as a "real" friend without blogging first? Thank you Blogspot!

I LOVE YOU BABY GIRL! BONNE FETE...LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS ROULER!!!

I was so excited that Gloria sent me pictures of Theresa's blog party. Got it up on my Monday blog post. It was rather bittersweet for me. I loved seeing all the pictures, but SO wished I was there. Glad "y'all" had a good time!

Take care, Sue

Awwwww.
I had tears in my eyes while reading this post because your words are SO true and straight from the heart about ALL of our blogger friends.

We've shared births, death, weddings, divorce, holidays, birthdays, trips, and EVERYTHING in between with each other. Even though some are shared through a computer screen, we are connected by one thing...and that is FRIENDSHIP.

Thank you for singling me out in the midst of your fabulous blogger friends today...you've made my 4oth birthday so special :))))
Hell, you make EVERYDAY so special for me :)))

This was a beautiful post...but I hope you realize that WE ALL FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT YOU TOO!!!!!!!
I just love you girl~
(can't say it enough)

Oh Deb you're ADORABLE....I'm so VERY glad I've met you for real though in all honesty, you are NO different at all in the flesh as to how you appear here & that my Friend is VERY REAL....!

I'm off to wish Jodie a Happy Birthday....!

I have decided that those dim though darling ones who do not "get" blogging just have no imagination at all and do not want to expand their horizons. When I tell people I write a blog they look at me funny as if I said porn or something. One day I might just say that instead! My daughter will die one thousand deaths of course so I better not. hugs♥olive

Deb~ it's like you climbed inside my head and heart when you wrote this post. (did you? and are you still in there...) really, I know I couldn't have said it any better and I have yet to meet any of the wonderful people I have met while blogging but I have become friends with them none the less. I don't have anyone around here who 'gets' blogging but to be fair I didn't really get it when I first started lurking! I was just looking for inspiration and WOW did I find it. This life of blogging has given me a new lease on life. You, my friend are one of the girls I would love to meet one day, I'm sure my cheeks would hurt from laughing and smiling so much but it's a price I would be willing to pay! Theresa xoxo

I agree with all the other comments, you all are my "real" friends, whether or not we have met, we still know each other, love one another and pray for one another. I'm so glad to see some photos of the big event. I just have to get down there at some point. I'm trying to find ways to bribe my husband...not sure what will work! (?) I'm so glad you're joining in on VIF, you make my day, Girlfriend.
I'm sending you an email photo of my birthday gift to Anne. don't laugh too hard, ok?
xo,
Debra

YOU are the one that inspires us how you can write about nothing yet say everything we say in our hearts all of the time. Reading your posts is like peeking inside of your heart and that is what I love about you! Thanks for being the person we all love and are so thankful to call our friend! Squirel moments and all ;P

You say the nicest things and make me want to meet the people you talk about! Even though I haven't met you, I sorta feel like I have. You make me smile and for that, I am grateful!

I agree with this whole post more than you know.

In many ways, my blog friends are my "real" friends. Y'all "get me" far more than my local friends ever have...I'm so thankful for blogging, because it has made the world a much smaller, warmer place.

And I'm thankful for having the privilege of meeting and getting to know YOU. :-)

Hugs,
Anne

Trying to figure out how can I get to Texas and meet my friend Debbie face to face? Is it okay to be Envious of all those beautiful ladies in the photos? ( oh yeah , envy is bad :(
I know! You and Cat Daddy need to head up North - you would love a Barn House flea or Farm Chicks.

Well... this is a first, you're going to make me cry! You said it all so well, Debbie. I think the friends that don't get it should start blogs, they'd be believers in no time.

Hey, about your wish at my blog, I'd be happy to give Tim a hug... well, maybe a hello since I don't know him yet. I do know his booth now (thanks for letting me know who it belonged to!). When I make it to that booth and I certainly will, I will tell him I'm a friend of yours, Debbie, which brings us back to the meaning of this post. Happy to know you, know you have my back and I certainly have yours!!!

A happy birthday wish to Jodie too.

Dear Instant Relative, I love this post and have missed my blogging world. But I have really missed you. If we never get to meet in person, I still consider you dear to me. Just in the short amount of time we have commented back and forth, I'm always so happy when I see a comment from you. I know your comments are going to be heartfelt, uplifting and funny as-all-get-out.

Oh Debbie I think all us bloggers have friends that just don't get the blogging appeal. They don't even seem that interested in looking at it...but to tell you the truth I really rather they didn't sometimes.
I've been lucky to meet a couple just recently and it's really an incredible gift.
My husband laughs at me when I say "my friend" talking about blog friends saying that they're not really my friends....ha what does he know?

Love this post and makes me not feel so crazy!

Deb, you and CD are priceless!! I have had some of the best times of my life hanging out with the two of you and more laughs than I can count, but you coming out to the party was just the icing on the cake. Thanks for all that you've done and visiting with you was just so much fun. I love you two!!

The feelings are so mutual, Deb. I've just got to get back down there and see you in Texas again sometime... to hear your fabulous voice again and get one of your fabulous hugs again and see your amazing gathered treasures too!

You are so right Deb, many folks just don't get it but we do and we are all rowing in the same boat. That is why the shows are so great. You get to hang with folks who "get it" and that's the best part.

What a truly touching and true post. My friends do not get blogging either. They really do not know what they are missing. Although I love my close by friends, I have met true soul mates in blog world. People who understand me more than the friends I have had for years. I knew you were one back in those beginning blogging days and I am so blessed that my dream of meeting in person and giving you a big old hug or two or three came true! The blog world has given us the opportunity to "meet" and share with like minded souls who we truly connect with. You are a special one, my friend. Hugs, Pam
