Jump Starting The Morning

I was just wondering why the last cup of coffee in the morning always tastes the richest?  I limit myself to 2 1/2 cups each morning...a full three and you wouldn't be able to make sense out of anything I say.  (Heck...I barely make sense half the time now!)  The first cup is always gulped down to get the ol' peepers cracked open...the second half cup is to get the cobwebs out, but that last cup...AHHH...that's the one to enjoy while visiting y'all.  Hmmm...I guess things always taste better when shared with friends.  (Now watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat!)

I've got a couple of things to share with y'all this morning...(cool segue huh?).  First...a huge congratulations to two of my favorite reads.  The Domestic Fringe and A Day in the Life both just made the Best 50 Evangelical Blogs.  To be recognized by one's peers as the best of anything is always wonderful, whether it's for writing, photography, or junking, but being selected as inspirational is a remarkable achievement.  Having the gift of compassion, love and speaking from the heart are unparalleled God given talents.  Could I express myself a tenth as well as these two lovely ladies...I would consider myself fortunate indeed.  I'm extremely proud for them and if you've never visited their blogs before...now would be the perfect time.  There's a reason they were selected and you owe it to yourself to find out why. Debra and Trish always make me think and even though I'm not too terribly fond of thinking...in their case I always make an exception.  Invariably...I always leave feeling blessed.  (These two have made little or no mention of this honor on their blogs which speaks volumes of their humility.  I, on the other hand, have no such compunction and don't mind blowing Gabriel's horn for them!) Thank you ladies for always knowing what to say and saying it perfectly.

Second thing...need a little help.  I'm working on February's window at Winnie and Tulula's and I need some input from all you creative people out there!  Cat Daddy built a kissing booth for me and I need ideas on how to jazz it up.  I'm open to any and all clever ideas...short of putting C.D. in the window!  (No one would be able to afford his prices...he's such a davo!)  Just remember one thing when making suggestions...I AM scissor-challenged..so keep it simple for this simpleton!

Just so you know...I'm still working on my idea for commenter categories.  Update soon!

Its not the coffee that gets me...its the creamer! I like a little coffee with my mug of Creamer....right now...Italian Sweet Cream is the one for me. As for the KB..hearts, lots of hearts...and maybe some tinsel?

I need to pour myself a big cup of coffee and check out those blogs. Now, about the window, maybe some garden statuary...some old chippy cherubs would be great! xo

Rose petals sprinkled everywhere and you could even string them together and do like a garland with them. I saw that on someone's blog the other day, looked so pretty.

You're very sweet and always gracious. Thank you for all those kind words!

So are you gonna be in the kissing booth or Cat Daddy?

I'm afraid I am not creative enough to come up with ideas. First thing that came to mind were lots of giant red lips. The second thing that came to mind were brothel like decorations. Now that I've admitted the smallness of my brain, please strike my words from the record! Thank you.

Best of luck. You are gonna take pictures, aren't you?

A kissing booth, that should be absolutely darling! I wish I had a worthy suggestion of how to spruce it up, but I have every confidence that you will rock it out just like you always do!

So proud of Debra, I need to pay a visit to the Domestic Fringe, too.

Happy Monday!
Hugs,
Anne

A kissing booth- that is so cool- what a fun idea!! Please share pictures when you've got the window all jazzed up.

Since this will be in a window I think it is the perfect job for the mannequin you show in the bathtub sometimes. Put something seductive on her and have her leaning out of the booth. What young man could resist a young siren like her.

This is too funny! I just did a 3 part post on coffee also and one of daughter's favorite cups is the same zebra cup as yours! The Kissing booth sounds like a great idea for a window, don't have any ideas at the moment but I'm sure you will make it fab! Can't wait to see the photos!

Debbie I am sure any crazy thing you create will be fab. I do see bright red lips though!

Malisa said...

Girlfriend, I am way too young to drink coffee, but I would proudly drink my Diet Dr. Pepper out of your awesome zebra cup! You are always stylin'...even in the early hours! For the kissing booth, dress your mannequin up in a pretty corset or sumpin' vintage and sexy! Or how about a big, vintage framed photo or poster of our shared boyfriend, Mr. Depp? Or how about a vintage cupid? Whatever you do, will be fab-u-lous!

How about Cat Daddy dressed up like Cupid? With the cute tights, some wings and a little bow and arrow? That would really get everyone's attention!! I'm driving to W&T's right now.... Maggie

Even on mornings when I just don't want to get pull the covers over your head & take a DO OVER DAY, the idea of my hot tub of Mocha Cafe makes me smile & gets even the faintest of hearts going here in my household & don't even ask me how many Micky Dee Caramel Frappes I've drank since those came out...you'll be able to tell when you see my ass next which should be in March if all goes well.
Miss y'all & can't wait to get back in TEXAS & let all my other earthly burdens float away like the skies over Round Top!
See ya soon sweet gal,
Susie

A Kissing Booth...no way...how cute!!!

Hmmm...how about some big ol' lipstick prints on the sides, different colors with some cool and quirky names like Be Mylanta Pink! OPI just came out with a Texas line of nail colors with some great names. You could look there for inspiration!

Deb, I am SO completely with you on the coffee. Husband can't talk to me until I've had at least half a cup, if not a full one in the morning, and after two we can have an actual conversation. That kissing booth sounds fa-bu-lous! Just don't get stuck inside with C.D. when you're supposed to be busy working, ok? p.s. for kissing booth decorations, my suggestion is single long-stem roses maybe in shades of pink and reds, attached to the walls of the kissing booth and across the door (real or fake would work :)

Deb I'm a tea drinker, but I do love the smell of a good cup of coffee! Congratulations to both of your friends, how exciting!

A kissing booth sounds too cute, I wish I could be of more help...maybe some giant foil covered Hershey Kisses? I can't wait to see what you end up doing!

Oh my gosh, girl I have missed out on some trash talkin! i gotta have my coffee in the morning, about 3 cups and well I'm having one tonight too. Sometimes in the winter, or fall or... well anyway a cup at night just sounds right:) The frito chili sounds wonderful! We make walking tacos with them and they are everyones favorite! I love the idea of the kissing booth but the way everyone talks about Cat Daddy you had better hide him, he seems to be a favorite among the girls! Wow what else did I miss while on my self imposed time-out? I will have to check out Debra and Trishs blogs, I need to think a bit myself! O.k. thanks for the smiles, I'll be back soon, Theresa xoxo

Just been catching up. Feel like I've spent Thanks Giving, Christmas, and News Years with you and your sweet family;0)
I so wish I could have been here to give you a big hug with Jacks passing. I still remember how much comfort your words were when we lost our big guy last year.
So here's two hugs, dear.

Hi Deb. Thanks for always taking the time to poke in on my dinky little blog. I hate that I've neglected it so. I'm not a coffee drinker but a nice big vanilla root beer from Sonic gets me going in the morning. I've cut back from my daily habit and stop rarely anymore on the way to school, but most of the time I end up rolling through for one after! Willpower has never been a strong trait of mine. Can't wait to see your February window...

Without getting TOO mushy, have I told you lately how much seeing a comment from you just totally brightens my day? Well, yeah, now I have. Really. :-) Thanks for the positive energy. We need it.

I always think the first cup of coffee tastes the best...especially that first blessed sip! I'm down to 70% decaf now, not because I wanted to believe me, but apparently old age has decided to kick in and caffeine does not seem to agree with me anymore :( Good luck with your kissing booth...how about having everyone put on their favortie shade of lipstick and plant their puckers on the wall for decoration?! A wall of kisses for decoration :))

Ahhh, that first cup of coffee is the best to me. Probably because it's the one I need the most! Sometimes when I go to bed, I can't wait until I wake up and have that first cup!

I can't wait to see those kissing booth pictures!
I found your blog last year and got such a laugh when you talked about "cat daddy". I'm very new at this blog thing (heck,I'm new at anything with a computer!) and could not find yours. I had lost you? I finally found you again and had the best time laughing and sometimes crying. I lost my little dog of 19 years awhile back and I know just how you feel.
Your an artist with a palette of words and you are a master at it! I now have you on my favorites and don't plan to ever take you off!
You make all of us feel like we are having that great cup of coffee with you! You know, that third cup. The GOOD ONE!
Blessings,Becky

Find some funky old letters, grab all the X's and O's you can find and string them up so they hang all over the kissing booth. Easy and cheap...just like me!

Hey Girl
Sitting here listening to the wind howl and the snow crackling against the windows. I am so over winter! Hoping to get on the road headed for the Southwest on Thursday, that is if the snow lets up and they can clear a path. Coffee sounds pretty good right now.
Blessings to you
