Jumping from one thing to another....

Doncha just hate it when the weatherman gets it right?  Couldn't they...just this once...be off the mark or better yet...off the map?  (The Super Bowl crowd is in town and I don't think this was what they had in mind when asked if they'd like something cold and wet.)  It's cold...I mean really cold.  It's icy...really icy.  There's snow...more than a shovelful in some places in the good ol' U.S. of A.!  (Just exactly how do you spell BRRR?  Is it 2 RR's or 3?)

Luckily, Cat Daddy and I took a little drive Sunday afternoon over to Canton for some early bird shopping.  I can't imagine being those poor vendors in this weather.  (Now I know why folks think us junkers are more than just a little throwed off!)  We found some wonderful things and I was planning on going back Thursday and meeting Sandi of the Green Pea Boutique for the first time, but sadly...that ain't gonna happen! (I'm not that throwed off!)

I've got more photos to show y'all of what I got, but in the meantime...take a gander at this suitcase-style, folding picnic table.  Ain't it a dandy?  (Pay no attention to the mess in the background...that's art...or my version of it...I'm tackling for Valentine's!)  I've been trying to research it and all I know so far is that it's from around 1964 (using census reports) and 6' long.  If any of y'all have information to share...bring it on!

Picture this:

Traveling on a newly built super-highway in a station wagon, kids fighting over who gets to ride in the luggage section, Shasta trailer hooked to the back, Dad at the wheel, mom with the map, all wearing madras plaid Bermudas...heading to Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon!

Or how about this?

Dad and Junior loading up the station wagon with camping gear on their way to the Boy Scout Jamboree at Valley Forge!  (Mmm...s'mores would taste good right about now!)  Either one...you just know this table was loaded second...right after the picnic basket...and wait until you get a load of the picnic basket I bought!  Whoa Nelly!

SQUIRREL ALERT!!!

Baskets makes me think of goodies (and s'mores with hot chocolate), so I thought I'd share some giveaway goodies with y'all right now!

Red.Neck Chic Giveaway

I've been thinking about my commenter idea and y'all have given me a lot of food for thought (s'mores, hot chocolate and buttery popcorn).  A lot...and I do mean a lot...of you have expressed concerns over not wanting to leave anyone out or hurting someone's feelings.  I totally agree.  The last thing I would want to do is hurt those who are so good to me.  Goodness me...that's like biting the hand that feeds me. (Feed me s'mores, hot chocolate, buttery popcorn and hobo stew!)

 My Petite Maison giveaway

I had several categories in mind like Cat Daddy's Tom Cats for the guys who comment, Lassies for those who are always there to pull us out of the well,  Assorted Nuts for the stand-up comedians out there...well...you get the idea.  Right?

If y'all still want to do it...what if you just put all your regular commenters' names in a hat and pull one out to submit?  I'm kinda at a standstill on this 'cause I truly want to recognize those who take the time to leave a comment, but I couldn't pick just one either.  Talk to me people...tell me what you think....'cause right now I'm too busy thinking about s'mores, hot chocolate, buttery popcorn, hobo stew and skillet cornbread!

52 Flea is hosting a giveaway for Lulu's Designs (Jennifer and Paula are new so go welcome them!  Tell 'em I sent you!)

I can clearly see I need to wrap this up, so until later...stay warm and I'm listening...while scrounging in the cabinet for marshmallows!

I can't wait to hear if anyone has more info on the table... I have one too! I can't get it to open all the way without some brute force and I want to hang it on the wall in Max's room. A bulletin board of sorts! Mine has the USA in the center with all of the presidents around the edges. I haven't seen it for awhile... I don't go into the attic very often, so I can't remember who the last one on it is. I need to go back a post I guess and see what the comment hulabaloo is all about :) Stay warm! Theresa xoxo

I am so confused right now! It's not you, it's me and this blonde hair, left handed Gemini thing doesn't help! Anyway, first, I can't even DREAM of what that weather must be like, nor do I want to. It hits below 60 here, and I think I'm gonna freeze my ass off! Love the map picnic table. And I'm not sure what the commenter thing was about but if you are looking to name ANYTHING, I like "assorted nuts"! Perfect, and speaking of that, I'm looking at your signed Rachel Ashwell book I have for you from over a year ago (me being the nut, not her)! I swear, "the store" is like an anchor tied to my ankle! I will some day either get it in the mail, or better yet, come deliver it myself ;0)

Take care, Sue

Well, I have to say for once the weatherman was wrong in my neck of the woods! The stars aligned and stooped over and with fingers crossed Central NY (Syracuse in particular) missed the big totals! Rather tan 15-20" of the white stuff and ice...we got about 3-4" and a little freezing rain.
Sooooo tired of this winter up here...it's snowed pretty much every day since it turned December...way too much...even for here.:-)
Glad you're enjoying your time in the winter..think I'll make some chocolate mousse!

I think.... it's a hard one. What if. Each commenter got an award. For example... Debbie of Talkin' some Trash (and food) was my "dumpster diva" and MALisa over @ Moonlight was my "pin up girl"...
and we had a linky party thing (please don't ask me how that's done 'cause I'm clueless) or a blog hop (again - clueless) and we had "commentor appreciation day" all the way across blogdom? maybe one each month?

I don't know. I'm with you though - it should be done. And my hot chocolate that you got me craving should be done by now too. LOLOL

That table is OUTRAGEOUS! I LOVE it!!!

Stay warm!!! I wonder what chocolate drizzled over popcorn with marshmallows melted in it tastes like? hmmmmm......

I couldn't concentrate on your post because all of that talk about s'mores, hot chocolate, and buttery popcorn {my fav} had my head spinning! :))

We are just buried in snow right now...it is almost as high as my 3 1/2 yr old is tall!

At any rate, Happy February!!

p.s. as for the painted floors, we installed the unfinished hardwood from Home Depot and then did one coat of regular primer and then 2 coats of Lowe's indoor floor paint in a satin finish. It dried very quickly and we haven't had a problem at all with it, seems to be quite durable! You can still see a bit of the wood grain thru the paint which I love! Hope that helps :)

Just checking to see if you and Cat Daddy are frozen statues unloading all of your treasures.

Your line about something cold and wet is one of your best.

Eating cookies and milk while laughing and spitting at the computer do not mix.

Boy, you were smart going to Canton when you did. We were waiting for Wed. and well, you know the rest of the story.
Thanks for stopping by the blog and leaving such a nice comment. As you could see, I haven't blogged since our opening and haven't been visiting blogs either. Am sure I've missed tons! Keep warm and have another cup of hot chocolate...can't remember how many I've had in the last few days!

Mother Nature seems to have the same sense of humor as the jack wagons on Jackass.
Hope you thaw soon.
