And She Lived Happily Ever After!

Once upon a time, there was a little redheaded girl who dreamed of being on Broadway or a world famous Radio City Music Hall Rockette. She took dance lessons and practiced her kicks day and night until that fateful day she learned a Rockette had to be at least 5'5". Sadly, save a miracle, she would never grow beyond 5'1". She couldn't truly let go of that dream, but instead held it in her heart for safe keeping, never telling anyone lest they laugh. A glittering dream to take out every now and then, dust off, smile at, hold in her hands and then gently place back in it's hiding place. Many years later, she went to the mailbox to discover a Christmas card in a familiar handwriting. Opening it, she read an obscure message requesting a night of frivolity with dinner, a show and perhaps a little gratitude vo-di-oh-do! Since he had never done anything like that before, she ran to the phone to call her knight in rusting armor to ask who had he meant to mail the invitation to! He laughingly told her to go and look in the drawer of his night stand...he would remain on the line. She flew to the bedroom...yanked open the drawer and there nestled in their own special little envelope, were two front row seats to The Rockettes Christmas Spectacular!
Tripping back to the phone, she asked again if the invitation was for her (never hurts to double check) and YES, it was hers. Tickets to make her secret a reality...even if she wasn't on the stage! Tickets to transport her to the world she had always dreamed of!

Dressed to the nines and escorted by the most handsome man in the room (who just happened to be 10' tall) she climbed the stairs, entered the theater and prepared to be enthralled!
For one brief, shining moment in time, she was a Rockette. She laughed, jumped up and down in her seat, cried, clapped and behaved like that little redheaded girl of 9...and he loved every moment of her childlike happiness!

THE END
The Rockettes are at the Nokia Theater in Grand Prairie starting today. If any of y'all get the chance to go...DO! Don't be chinchy on the seats...get the good ones where you can actually see the sweat...heck, I think I got hit by it! It is worth every penny you'll spend...I swear up and down! The costumes (the toy soldier is the original 1933 design), the music, the high kicks, the precision, the majesty...I could just go on and on. I loved every minute of it and will probably go again this year and every year!

The grandeur of the finale, The Nativity, is one of the most awe inspiring things I have ever witnessed.
Oh and in case you were wondering about the vo-di-oh-dohing...well, a lady never kisses and tells...BUT...you may kiss me under the mistletoe later to say thanks!

Went to see the Rocketts in Music City the last two years, and loved it. This year we sat on the second row and it was great. Can't wait to go next year.

Oh Debbie, I am so happy for you! There's nothing like a wish coming true for a little red-headed girl that's 5' 1" :)

Your knight in rusting armor sure is a thoughtful soul.

As always, you made me laugh but most of all touched my heart!

Height is all in the mind!!! Love that photo of you with your little leg cocked out there! You know you got the best knight at the round table, right? Or the square table...or the coffee table...or the dining table...or the prep table. It is amazingly beautiful that your knight keeps trying to impress you after all these years! You are a lucky woman...high kicks and all!

Debbie,
What an absolutely wonderful Cinderella story!! CD truly is your prince charming. I have never seen the Rocketts, but had a girlfriend that was one of the Rockettes back in the late 80's. Since I've not been around lately I took a gander at you back posts...none is more beautiful than the one of Bella though! What an absolute cutie she is! A little bundle of blessings I would say. Take care

You know you have to keep him, don't you? Any man who knows our dreams and makes them come true is a keeper. Congrats on finding and keeping your knight in shining armor. He is a better story than the Rockettes, don't ya know? Glad you got to enjoy the tall girls with Danny. ~Mindy

A heartwarming story for the season, and it keeps us believing in knights in shining armour, and all the GOOD in life. In this world we live in today, we all need to constantly remind ourselves to look for the GOOD and blow off the useless crap that is thrown our way. Thank you for the great story! Take care.

Just love this! He's one romantic guy! Maybe the two of us could start our own chorus line. Who else out there in blogland is 5'1 and under? It could be a pretty exclusive dance team! I can just see us now!
Oh well, I can dream can't I?

Well, That looked like quite a show and so much fun.
I just left Jodie's blog and saw that you were pretty talented at cheerleading didn't know you wanted to be a dancer too. I want you to post your picture doing the splits little darlin!
I can't even bend over and touch my toes. I am not sure I want to know how you stay so limber.
snicker....

If they're all tall, why are they called the Rockettes? Shouldn't they just be called the Rocks? Seems like 5'1" would be the perfect size for a real Rock-ette!

Give me a One...Give me a Two...
Give me a stretcher 'cause I didn't know I could kick that high...oh wait, I can't. I think I'll leave that for the pro's...you know the ones... the cute lil' "vertically challenged" crew known to all mankind as the "trashettes" or the "dumpsterdivas" or the... there are so many names, so few truly talented tiny little rockstars. LOL

Sounds to me like you had GREAT FUN!!! LOL
Happy Monday!!!

Ok...I think you are story-telling once again...I don't believe you are 5'1'! HAHA! It is a spectactular show. Mr. Hero and I got to see it in person in NYC 2 months after 9/11. It was amazing...as was that whole trip! Yes I want to come back out and play...just having a problem getting my feet to stop dancing! And wait till you see those pics! I'm still in surreal wedding mode. Got black marks all over my thigh from pinching myself Sat. nite to make sure I just wasn't dreaming it turned out so perfect! Hope to see you soon! Hugs!

Wow- how much fun.
I still believe I could choreograph a dance number on Broadway.

I hope we never stop thinking of our dreams.

Oh, I hope you had a blast!!! I used to want to be a dancer, but to be honest with you I tend to be a bit clumsy. I would problem fall flat on my butt.
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas!!!!

Debbie, I heard this not to long ago: In my book you are a winner ten times over. (you have CD all to yourself). But you would have looked just great on the left or the right end of the Rocketts lineup. sandi
