Casita De Trash

I have always dreamed of having a canned ham like this. I thought this would just be the cutest thing for Cat Daddy and I to hit the open road on.
Imagine looking this stylish and chic with the wind blowing through my hair. Nothing between us but the open road.
Setting up at Zapp Hall during the Antique Week and having this next to our tent. Parties at night under the moon and twinkling paper lanterns. Just C.D., Jakie and me laying our heads down at night after a hard day of junking. Cat Daddy knew how badly I wanted this and so last spring he made it happen. A friend of ours was going to sell his 60's Shasta and called C.D. Being the junker he is, he got it for a great deal. He finally went and picked it up last week and brought it home to me. Voila!!!
My very own little canned ham! Now remember what I said about being good little JWL's-you have to love it because I love it even if it is dog butt ugly. And right now, it is!!! His friend had been using it on a deer lease-eeewww! I haven't even been in it yet. I'm more than just a little afraid. We are going to gut it and start over, but first I have to make sure our tetanus shots are up to date. I would think the hardest part is finding the little wings that are supposed to be attached on the back. It'll just take time. Thank goodness the a/c is not that old.
Still, I'm very excited. One restored would have been way out of our price range and this will be so much more fun to redo to suit my personality. Think patent leather and leopard!
It's only 12' foot long and doesn't have a bathroom in it---YET!!! I guess guys don't feel the need for indoor plumbing as much as we girls do, but I'm sorry. There are just some things you can do in the outdoors and some things you just don't. Besides everything just locks up on me at the thought. I'm hoping (she says with her fingers crossed) to have it partially habitable by the spring show. I really want to bring it down for people to have a place to relax and visit. A gathering place of sorts. Of course, I'll have to ask Cheryl if I can first. But doesn't it sound like fun?
So what do you think, y'all? Isn't it and Cat Daddy the coolest? Lie if you have to, just humor me and say YES!

No doubt he's the coolest! Any hubby that seeks to accommodate his wife's wishes is an absolute dream boat (or dream canned ham, in this case!).

Oh Deb, you make my heart sing!! I'm wanted one really really bad for a long time...I love it!! I can't wait to see how you fix it up and show it off at Zapp. That is by far the coolest present he could have brought home, even better than the pink tree! CD, I want one. If you find an extra one laying by road, call me, ok.

IF THE CANNED HAM IS ROCKIN'!!!

Girl, I am pink (never green) with envy! You will have it decorated fabulously! Your Fifi poodle sign will look so cute stuck outside of the canned ham! I simply cannot wait to see it! I am thinking of what I have that you need in there...no, not Lurch! :)

Cat Daddy is one of the best! AND he's got quite the eye for a fabulous vintage pull-along. I think you should paint it pink...I like the picture of the pink one. I can't wait to see it complete. Remodels are so exciting to me! One day I'll have to post pictures of the house (if you can call it that) that FringeMan and I salvaged.

You lucky girl!! The hubster and I love canned hams too! We rented a motor-home once and camped at a little campsite in Pismo Beach which was loaded with these little gems!! It was so fun to see the refurbishing! Hope I get to see "Casita De Trash" at Zapp!

I LOVE it!!! I have always wanted a canned ham myself. A neighbor had one in his back yard, and i looked at it longingly for months, wanting to make him an offer, even though it didn't have a for sale sign on it. One day I walked by, and the neighbor had moved and the lil canned ham was gone. Snooze ya loose, right? There was an article in one of the Country mags a few years back, maybe Country Living? Any way there was an article about a group of slightly crazy women who caravaned together in their "hams"..they were decorated w/ all sorts of vintage goodies, and one of them was named "WaterLemon"...I coveted that damn thing just from the pictures!! Sad, huh? Keep us posted on your progress! *elaine*

OMG!! I have never been sooooooo jealous of anyone! I want one so bad! I can see it now -- parked right outside my building at Canton. Just waiting for all the friends to stop by after shopping all day and have a little glass of something that probably isn't allowed on the grounds (not that it's ever stopped us before...) Be sure to name that little canned ham and keep us posted on the decorating progress. Cat Daddy is THE BEST!!!

I think it is great. One summer about 19 years ago, my husband and I pulled a pop up camper cross country. We had a great time. Meeting people and playing cards was the most fun.........ahhhh you are going to enjoy it.
