I can remember how gobsmacked I was when I heard this incredible song for the first time! (Did Mark do the first release years ago?) Thanks for sharing it again...I hadn't heard it yet this season!!
Oh man, what a gorgeous rendition. Brings a tear to my eye every time. I remember sitting in the dark in my firstborn's room when he was just a baby, rocking him to sleep and feeling for the first time like I understood that the way I felt about my son was no different than the way Mary felt about hers. It brought it down to such a human level and made me realize that it doesn't matter if your child is the son of God or not, it is YOUR child, this perfect and beautiful extension of your heart. At that moment, I felt such pain for Mary, having to watch her precious son die. I know it was all for our salvation and all of that, but my point is, it was her SON, and even knowing that it was part of the divine plan wouldn't have made that an easy thing for a woman to bear. I guess it was one of those moments when I felt connected to all mothers all over time and all over the world. Well crap, now I'm making myself cry. Best go back to the shallow end of the pool where I'm more comfortable! Have a great rest of your weekend my friend!
Bless you. I really love this song, and this version is beautiful. Referencing your last post (beautiful memories by the way), I never saw a Madame Alexander trunk show, but I had Jo and my sister had Beth from the Little Women set. Haven't thought about that in forever, Deb.
That song always brings me to my knees in tears... it is so anointed! I haven't heard this rendition before, I love how you can understand each word. Beautiful Thanks for the cry... Love ya
I am a wife, mother of 2 nana to 3. I am old enough to buy liquor if I wanted to. I've been in the antique business for too long. I'm a 6th generation Texan and wouldn't live anywhere else. I love the Lord, my family, old musicals, Stephen King novels, junk and my life.
