Billie Joe Armstrong’s Surf Shack on Wheels
4 weeks ago
Everything is overgrown, weedy and basically a jungle. I keep expecting to see Tarzan swing through or at least Cheetah!(and if they do, I'm handing 'em hedge clippers!) It's green, but that's the only good thing I can say. I see photos of y'alls gardens and I think to myself," which way do I go, which way do I go?"
There is a pond, but are there any cute fish in it? N-o-o! It's clean, but that's it.
The birdbaths are clean, thank goodness. I would hate to think I have hurt an innocent creature in my neglect! But law, I think my little woodland friends like it. I'm afraid to let Jakie out alone for fear they will hold him for ransom...or corn!
The Confederate Jasmine has taken over this section of the fence and I don't think you can even see the hydrangeas for it, but the fragrance! Oh my goodness, it is worth it to let this one go. The scent carries over into Cat Daddy's yard and even into the front yard! That cinnamon aroma is the only thing saving my sanity when I step outside.
I don't know where to stop or even how to begin. I mean, here it is May, Mother's Day for gosh sakes and we can't even have our brunch out here this year. Shame on me! I've got to get busy because in just a couple of weeks it will be just too hot to do any planting and the mosquitoes will be thinking I'm take-out. So, the only way I'm going to get this done, is just close my eyes and jump...maybe in front of a moving lawn mower. Don't come any closer, I've got a weed whacker and I'm not afraid to use it!
Y'all know where this all leading, don't y'all? I have got to push back my chair and get off this computer for a few days. It's the only way I will be able to accomplish anything. I'd rather be inside where it is cool with y'all, but in the meantime, the squirrels are taking in renters in my garden house! So, I'll be gone for a little bit...just until I get a handle on my sanity and home. I'm not going to say that I won't be checking out y'alls posts...after all, I am only human and a woman at that! But I have got to get real busy because like I said, I'm not even going to show you what I had done to the bedroom right before Jenn went into the hospital, but can you say Baptist pallet?
Now Janet has taken the plunge and is joining us in the pool of fools called blogging and what is blogging, you ask. Why, it is the joining together of WORDS to make sentences, you silly goose! I know it won't take long for Janet to become our headmistress in the ABC's of words. Oh, the stories she can tell! Just the ones of her adventures with her family growing up are enough to make me giddy! And just in case you didn't know...junking IS her middle name.
I was lucky enough a few years back to get to become friends with Janet when she and her sister, Mo, were setting up in the Civic Center at Canton at the same time I was. Talk about a hoot! Work should never be that much fun....they are a pair to draw to. She would have me rolling in the aisles and I can't wait to hear what she has to say! So head on over and say hello and in the meantime...Janet, welcome to the playground and TALK TO ME BABY!!!
First up is Sue at Bella Shabby. Sue is having a giveaway at her blog ending May 7th and I told her I would do a shout out and let y'all in on all the 411. She is giving away the most darling apron that really is a one size fits all! Wait until you see it...cutest fabric...cutest sash...cutest bow in the back! I'll be ordering one of these because I really don't expect to win! Sue is special to me. She has been so like a long lost friend to me from the beginning. She has one of the biggest hearts that it's a wonder it doesn't just pop out of her chest. Do you know that I don't think I have ever done a post where she hasn't left a comment or if she hasn't, it's because she has been busy with a show or her family. When you are not getting any comments, getting that one means everything. It means someone is listening. Sue has always been there listening and sharing her thoughts with me. When you go over for her giveaway (and you know you will!), leave her a comment of course for the giveaway, but take the time to leave one later in the week just because. Comments are our heartbeats!
Second up is Donna at Gather. Donna is pretty new to blogging (but then, aren't most of us?) and she held a giveaway just recently. I saw her artwork and fell in love with it. She recently sent me this lovely pendant that she had painted. I nearly fell over when I saw how beautiful it was. I have to believe beauty comes from beauty and Donna is beautiful all the way to the inside.
I am so fortunate to get to talk to such gifted people as I do through this little blog. Donna is just one of these artists. There are so many of you that it just boggles this chubby girl's mind! Again, comments are talking. Drop her a line and let her know you think her work is special.
Is this not the most precious little work of art? Speaking of precious, that brings me to my third love, Precious Bella!(See how I managed to work that in oh so carefully?) Jenn has been doing updates on her, but I thought I would add to hers.
Jenn has more photos on her blog, but I had to post this one...get a load of that bow! One of the NICU nurses made it for her. When Jenn came in that day, the nurse had it in one hand and a glue gun in the other. Jenn asked how she planned on attaching the bow to Bella....tape of course! WHEW!!!
Sassy Bella back in her bikini, but with matching bow this time. They took the high powered ventilator off her this past Saturday and Jenn got to hold her for the first time! Praise the Lord!!! Now you would think that holding her would be just that, right? No, it's a little more difficult than just having a baby placed on your lap. She has to be basically taped to Jenn with the lines being placed just so so and taped on. Does that make sense? Then she is placed on Jenn's chest under her shirt, skin to skin. Bella has been in a glass castle with humidity pumped in, kind of like a hothouse...this is the environment she is used to. Adapting to the outside air can be difficult, but she is doing super. She snuggles down on her mommy and goes sound asleep with just a little cat dancing for good measure. They like for her to be with her mother for at least an hour or longer...which is just fine with Jenn. She only wakes up when they place her back in her glass castle.
Last night Bella reached 3 pounds. The nurse weighed her three times to be sure. Can I get a hallelujah? There are still some obstacles to overcome, but for the meantime, everything is amazing. I think the doctors have just thrown the textbook away and are just flying by the seat of their pants when it comes to her progress! We know the secret, don't we? You bet we do...our God is good!
Bella is giving all you Junk Sistas a wink and telling you in her own sleepy little way, thank you. She looks forward to the day she gets to meet all her aunties and angels out there! She also said to tell you you can see her video on her mommy's blog. Her first televised appearance! Law, I love my grandchildren more than it should be allowed and man, I am one blessed woman!
She was lucky enough to be born on Cinco De Mayo. How mucho caliente is that? She gets parades, fireworks, dancing and singing in the streets on her birthday! Pinatas, tortillas and guac, oh my! (My high school spanish, she's not so good!)
Kerri, the U.S. postage stamp is no longer 32 and neither are you, but like the USPS, you always deliver, get to go to faraway places and are NEVER on time. Neither sleet nor rain nor hail will keep you from a shoe sale or a twofer. You stick like glue to those of us you love and never cancel us out.
I know every mother thinks their children are the most beautiful things on the planet and I'm no exception although I have to admit when he was a baby, love is blind. He was all legs, arms and head! Joey was one those babies who just got prettier and prettier. Everyone always thought he was a girl and I didn't help matters much because I wouldn't cut his hair. He had the most beautiful blond curls and it drove Cat Daddy crazy when folks would say something about our "daughter"! He was a loving child that just seemed to draw people like a magnet...still does. He never meets a stranger (wonder where he gets that?) and never forgets a face or name (I really do wonder where he gets that, oh yeah...Cat Daddy!).
He loves being the center of attention and holding court! He's always up for any adventure or new idea. Never any negativity, only positive!. (Pay no attention to the woman in the photo. I have no idea who she is or how she got in the shot. I am really 5'10" and model thin.) Jenn(psst, new Bella photos) says part of his charisma is the "eyebrow". That is a family joke about how if you possess the gift of the "eyebrow", you are naturally charming and loved. She just may be on to something there. When I named him after my daddy, I had no idea how much of a joy he would be to me. Being a new mother, I didn't have a clue as to how a child can change you and your focus, but change me he did!
Joey and Misty bring so much happiness to all who are fortunate enough to be their friends and family. They also gave me my first granddaughter, Graycie! He has made the most wonderful, loving father and it just takes my breath away to watch him with Grayzilla. He serves as my validation that C.D. and I must have done something right. So for the rest of the day, I am going to take a trip down memory lane, remembering what a wonderful gift God blessed me with on May 4, 1972. even though at the time I thought I would never be able to walk straight again! In fact, I think I'll go have a sitz bath in his honor!
They asked me to please make a P.S.A. that swine is NOT the same as honey baked. So in the interest of resurrecting their social life, they will now be referred to as The Two Headed Woman until further notice.
